I'm Amy Smith, LCSW, CDCI (Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Chemical Dependency Counselor I).

Born and raised in the Northeast, I earned my Master of Social Work at Syracuse University in 1998. I found my way to Alaska, after visiting for extended periods of time on vacation. Once settled back at home, I found I wasn't really settled at all, as I felt a strong pull to return. I followed that call and have made Alaska my home for several years now. When I'm not working, I enjoy family time, my dogs, camping, boating, fishing, photography and exploring all this beautiful state has to offer.

I have been in professional practice for over twenty five years and have had the opportunity to work with diverse clientele in a variety of treatment settings including: clinical outpatient and residential treatment services, school social work, home-based family therapy,  and integrated behavioral health in primary medical care.

Opening a private practice was always a dream as it allows me more options for helping clients like yourself. I am excited to offer individual, group and family therapy to adolescents, adults and families.

I utilize EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, Ericksonian hypnosis, and trauma-informed treatment with a client-centered, strength-based approach.

My special interests are women’s issues across the life-span, trauma and treatment of binge-eating disorders.
